Help:Basic Page Adding

This will be a new Help Page that is easier for computer novice and the computer phobic web site user to use and understand. Existing GPofCalWiki "help" and "special pages" are written with a lot of obscure, confusing "computer speak" (jargon) on them. Thus they are not very helpful to most non-technical site users.

For now please know this: there is a special weird way to become able to create a new web page on this web site...

• first login.
• use the search box on the left hand side of a GPofCalWiki web page.
• type in the title of the web page you would like to make yourself. It is better if you already know that the page title does not yet exist for any web page currently posted on the GPofCalWiki web site (i.e. you did the search once before).
• you will not find the web page with the title you searched for.
• you WILL get a "search answer page" with a WEB LINK on it called "create page".
• click on the "create page" link and you will be presented with a new blank web page with the title you searched for. You will be in "edit mode" so that you can now add content to the web page, format some of the content using HTML tags (if you know how to do that), and you can save your page when done.

Soon I will be adding better instructions on this page that "walk" logged in site users step-by-step through through the process of adding web pages to this site and tell you a bit about why you have to do things this way.

But first I, JGW (jenniwoo), will have to determine how to categorize this web page and place it where I want it to appear in a "Help Section" to be better developed on the GPofCalWiki site. jw110504-1545
